Open or closed?

The Alexander technique is about our approach to life and how we respond to it.

In a simple sense, there are two approaches, closed or open.
Closed or open mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We can see it physically in the way people hold themselves. Mentally with narrow, fixed beliefs and spiritually with a closed heart.

Of course it's natural to close and open as a response to events. Just look at any animals. But what we do as human beings, is to hold onto the closed state using thinking. This may often become habitual. And in time feels like the way we are made. Nothing could be further from the truth.
